Very few people have given as much as Thomas Jefferson to the unique history and heritage of America. Born in Shadwell, Virginia on April 13, 1743, Jefferson was a man of unusual intelligence, ability, and accomplishment. In fact, as President John F. Kennedy once welcomed forty-nine Nobel laureates to the White House, he said, "I think this is the most extraordinary collection of talent, of human knowledge, that has ever been gathered at the White House, with the possible exception of when Thomas Jefferson dined alone."
