"It happened in the Senate last week, after Sen. Tom Harkin got up to praise Cuba’s great health care system and near-universal literacy rate.
"That was a bit much for Sen. Marco Rubio, whose family fled Cuba. In a 15-minute rebuttal, Rubio reminded Harkin that literacy isn’t worth much when all you’re allowed to read is propaganda censored by the government.
"He asked, if Cuba’s health care system is so great, where are the boatloads of American doctors fleeing to Cuba?
"And he reminded the Senate that Cuba’s government hasn’t proven competent at anything but brutal repression. They can’t build anything, they can’t feed their own people, but they can jail dissidents and kill protesters.
"And to those who claim Cuba would be fine if we’d just lift the embargo, Rubio noted that there’s no embargo against Venezuela, which has immense oil wealth. But ever since they started trying to be like Cuba, the people have no food, no fuel, not even toilet paper.
"What they do have is Cuban security forces shooting them for protesting government repression.
"I wish this speech could be played to every American college student who has a poster of Che Guevara on his dorm room wall." ~Mike Huckabee (from Facebook post)
