
We don't usually talk about food here, but the holiday season is coming up and I can't resist sharing a little pie-making secret with you, just in case you might need it.
In our family, holiday feasts are never complete without several different kinds of pie...apple, pumpkin, pecan, banana cream...everyone has their favorite.
But making pie crust always seemed too hard to fuss with until I learned the Lion House Method.
Now it's easy! It takes two minutes to learn the secret . . .
Below is a seven minute video if you want to see how to make the dough and learn more crust techniques. Their pie crusts are DELICIOUS, but they have margarine, lard, butter, and shortening in them. You might want to splurge for Thanksgiving though!
Recipe for Lion House Pie Crust
Dry Ingredients:
1 tablespoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon nonfat dry milk
1 1/2 cups pastry flour
1 1/2 cups bread flour
Mix together
1/4 cup margarine
1/4 cup butter
1/3 cup shortening
1/3 cup lard
Cut in fat with pastry blender, knives, or mix with hands.
Add 1/2 cup room temperature water and gently mix with hands.
