Marine's Letter To Senator Feinstein Goes Viral

This letter, written by U.S. Marine Joshua Boston, is from the 12/27 CNN iReport.

Picture

Senator Dianne Feinstein,

I will not register my weapons should this bill be passed, as I do not believe it is the government’s right to know what I own. Nor do I think it prudent to tell you what I own so that it may be taken from me by a group of people who enjoy armed protection yet decry me having the same a crime. You ma’am have overstepped a line that is not your domain. I am a Marine Corps Veteran of 8 years, and I will not have some woman who proclaims the evil of an inanimate object, yet carries one, tell me I may not have one.

I am not your subject. I am the man who keeps you free. I am not your servant. I am the person whom you serve. I am not your peasant. I am the flesh and blood of America.

I am the man who fought for my country. I am the man who learned. I am an American. You will not tell me that I must register my semi-automatic AR-15 because of the actions of some evil man.

I will not be disarmed to suit the fear that has been established by the media and your misinformation campaign against the American public.

We, the people, deserve better than you.

Respectfully Submitted,
Joshua Boston
Cpl, United States Marine Corps

Unfortunately, if the evil man had a knife he wouldn't have been able to kill as many children as he did. Assault weapons are a problem and are needed by an American for what reason? To kill a human is the only thing I see it used for. If you used it on a deer, you wouldn't be able to eat most of its meat, if you use it for fun and practise targets then I wonder why you feel so paranoid that an assault weapon is your choice. I believe in the second amendment so you need to get yourself a musket. That is the firearm it was written for. It takes a minute to load and only holds one bullet giving time for most children to run away.

Actually, it's "you're". Perhaps it's YOU that needs an education.

An ar-15, just like any weapon, was designed to kill. Shooting a deer with one is the same as shooting it with a bolt action rifle. I give up I can't believe I'm even responding to this waterlilly nonsense. The education level in this day and age where information is a mouse click away is a joke. Move away if you dislike it here. The constitution was clear when it was written.

Wrong on almost everything. 2nd amendment right is to protect you and your family. Also, most important part protect you from your government. I'm okay if you are afraid of guns and don't want them around. At some point you will probably wish you had one. Just stop trying to take others rights to have them.

waterlilly1997, your statement "If you used it on a deer, you wouldn't be able to eat most of its meat" just proves your ignorance about guns, the AR-15 specifically. 1 bullet fired from this gun would not ruin the meat and as a semi-automatic it only fires ONE bullet each time you pull the trigger. Also it is deemed not, repeat NOT powerful enough to hunt deer with. btw most deer are smaller that a person.

No!! The second amendment was not written for any weapon!! It was written for the Freedom you and I enjoy!! The few Mindless evil dowers are not going to follow any law nor with they get their weapons legally!!
I have the right to bear arms against the Illegal and overstepping Gov!
The reality is thus, More people have their lives saved by armed bystanders then by any Cop,FBI, or any other agent of the peace
keepers!! The cops can not help me here at my home nor can you.
So keep you uneducated opinions to your self until you do the research.

The Second Amendment was written as a warning to tyrants (both foreign and domestic) that if they did not respect the will of the people, they could be challenged.
Every year, automobiles kill three times more people than guns. Where is the outcry about banning cars? Why don't people get angry about the way people drive?
Ask yourself why all these people who live under armed guard 24/7 are so eager to make guns illegal? Maybe because they are better than the "rest" of us...and want us to remain poor, scared, and dependent on them. And they keep taxing us and telling us it's to do what is best for us.
Gun control is racist, elitist, and tyrannical. Taxes and tyrants are exactly why the constitution was written. Wake up and see what is really going on.
And by the way...practice uses an "c" (one more thing we got rid of with the British).

What if the next evil creep uses a car or a truck or a plane ; do we ban them all?

You can't eat a deer if you use an AR-15 or similar gun? Moronic statements like this amuse me. Carry on.

If you studied American History then the 2nd Amendment it’s very clear. If you’re willing to give in to them on the 2nd then what’s stopping them from going after the 4th, 14th or any of the others for that matter. When you’re willing to let the Government start infringing on your Constitutional Rights what’s to stop them from going further. I’ve been a police officer for over 22 years and people ask me all the time, “What can I do to protect myself.” I always tell them the same thing, purchase a firearm and get trained on its use. I explain to them the police can’t and won’t always be there so they need to accept some of the responsibility for their personal security themselves. One of my own home defensive platforms is an AR-15. I choose this tool for home use due to having several rooms and family members in my home. I do not want over penetration should I have to stop a threat inside my home. The 55 grain .223 TAP round I carry is an excellent choice for this inside the home where over penetration is a concern. I hope people understand a firearm is only a tool it’s the person using that tool that makes it good or bad not the other way around. The only thing that can stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun and I can tell you from personal experience, there’s never a cop around when you need one so get trained up and protect yourself, family and others around you when and if the time comes.
