As Google, Facebook, YouTube, and other companies work to customize their services for you, (like news and the search results you get) they decide what to show on your computer based on your previous choices. That can lead to you getting trapped in a "filter bubble" where you are not exposed to other helpful information.
No wonder liberals and conservatives sometimes have a rough time communicating. Their world view can be radically different depending on the news they've been delivered over the years. Just being aware of this content chasm can help us be more sensitive to the need to build bridges of understanding as we seek to communicate with others.
