The War on Baby Girls

5/30/2012

Picture

"A new undercover video showing a Planned Parenthood abortion clinic in Austin, TX encouraging a woman to obtain a late-term abortion because she was purportedly carrying a girl and wanted to have a boy.

"The video is first in a new series titled 'Gendercide: Sex-Selection in America,' exposing the practice of sex-selective abortion in the United States and how Planned Parenthood and the rest of the abortion industry facilitate the selective elimination of baby girls in the womb.

"I' see that you're saying that you want to terminate if it's a girl, so are you just wanting to continue the pregnancy in the meantime?' a counselor named 'Rebecca' offers the woman, who is purportedly still in her first trimester and cannot be certain about the gender. 'The abortion covers you up until 23 weeks,' explains Rebecca, 'and usually at 5 months is usually (sic) when they detect, you know, whether or not it's a boy or a girl.' Doctors agree that the later in term a doctor performs an abortion, the greater the risk of complications.

"The Planned Parenthood staffer suggests that the woman get on Medicaid in order to pay for an ultrasound to determine the gender of her baby, even though she plans to use the knowledge for an elective abortion. She also tells the woman to 'just continue and try again' for the desired gender after aborting a girl, and adds, 'Good luck, and I hope that you do get your boy.'

"'The search-and-destroy targeting of baby girls through prenatal testing and abortion is a pandemic that is spreading across the globe,' notes Lila Rose, founder and president of Live Action. 'Research proves that sex-selective abortion has now come to America. The abortion industry, led by Planned Parenthood, is a willing participant.'

Six studies in the past four years indicate that there are thousands of 'missing girls' in the U.S., many from sex-selective abortion. The U.K., India, Australia, and other countries ban sex-selective abortion, but the U.S., save for three states, does not. On Wednesday, Congress will debate the Prenatal Non-Discrimination Act (PRENDA), which would ban sex-selective abortions nationally.

"Planned Parenthood and their ruthless abortion-first mentality is the real 'war on women'," says Rose. 'Sex-selective abortion is gender discrimination with lethal consequences for little girls.'"

Happy Memorial Day!

Here are 7 fun and meaningful ways to celebrate Memorial Day with your family.

Choose a few favorites and they can become special traditions for your family to share and remember.

 Red, White, and Blue Breakfast
Decorate your table with patriotic decorations.  Serve waffles, cream, strawberries and blueberries for a red, white, and blue breakfast.  Talk about Memorial Day and what it means.  Read the Memorial Day Proclamation or a special Memorial Day message.

Visit the Cemetery
Visit the cemetery and put flowers on the graves of loved ones.  Talk about your family heritage and the purpose of life.  Read some of the headstones.  Talk about what you want people to remember about you when you are gone.  Talk about the importance of leaving a legacy.

Interview a Patriot
Talk to a person who has served in the military.  Thank them and ask questions about their experiences.  If you don’t know anyone in the military, visit with someone who gives service in your community.  Take plenty of pictures and write down some of the experiences and ideas they share.  You could give them a small gift or treat, or invite them to share a meal with you.  Be sure to thank them for their service.

Create a Movie
Think about your family heritage or some of the experiences you have shared as a family.  Gather together pictures, videos, etc.  Create a movie that will help you remember and treasure your heritage and/or special family experiences.

Have a Family Time to Write in Your Journals
Write in your journals.  Express your feelings about the great people who have sacrificed for us to enjoy the blessings of faith, family, and freedom.

Potluck Dinner
Invite extended family and friends for a patriotic potluck.  Have a short program and play games afterward.

Campfire Memories
Build a campfire.  Sing patriotic songs and share special memories.  You could roast hotdogs or marshmallows and make s’mores.

Being a Good Parent Seems Like Impossible Mission

By Jeff Benedict in the Deseret News

"I have a confession to make. A couple of weeks ago, my 15-year-old son, Tennyson, published his first piece of writing online, a wonderfully written essay on global warming. Well researched. Compelling. Hard to refute.

"I was so proud I emailed it to colleagues and posted it to my Facebook page. Instantly, people started congratulating me for doing such a terrific job teaching my son to write. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree, one friend said.

"I hear that a lot. Here's the problem. As a professional writer, I'm usually too busy to teach my son to write.

"There. I said it.

"The one who deserves the credit is my wife. I'm not being modest. Just honest. I'll explain.

"By fifth grade, our son was far behind and fading fast when it came to reading and writing. At the same time, his overall enthusiasm for learning had all but died. Drastic measures were in order. We removed him from public school and Lydia made it her mission to help him become proficient with the written word. She graduated at the top of her class at Northeastern University with a degree in English and a 3.97 GPA. She put that to use as our son's personal tutor.

"It was a grind, especially at first. There were hand-wringing, tears, second-guessing and disagreements. It was brutal. Then came the writing assignments. Over time, Lydia and Tennyson went through a small tree farm in the editing and rewriting process.

"Fast-forward five years. Lydia is still his teacher. Yep. He never returned to public school. Since coming home he has read more than 140 books — from biographies on Charles Lindbergh, Abraham Lincoln, Ben Franklin, Andre Agassi and Dick Van Dyke to novels like 'Gulliver's Travels,' 'To Kill a Mockingbird' and 'The Hunt for Red October.' And he writes as well as my college students. Seriously. Last week he took the ACT and he's applying for early admission to college.

"That just shows what a devoted teacher can do, especially one with a vested interest in the future of the child...."    Read More:  Deseret News

Government Is a Fearful Master

The Left's Misplaced Concern
by Dennis Prager, in NationalReview.com

Note:  PatrioticMoms.com does not necessarily agree with everything in this article, or other articles published here.  Sometimes a great article shares important insights, not often expressed, but has a point or two I don't agree with. I may pass them on anyway if the nuggets of gold seem valuable.

Picture

"You cannot understand the Left if you do not understand that leftism is a religion. It is not God-based (some left-wing Christians’ and Jews’ claims notwithstanding), but otherwise it has every characteristic of a religion. The most blatant of those characteristics is dogma. People who believe in leftism have as many dogmas as the most fundamentalist Christian.

"One of them is material equality as the preeminent moral goal. Another is the villainy of corporations. The bigger the corporation, the greater the villainy. Thus, instead of the devil, the Left has Big Pharma, Big Tobacco, Big Oil, the “military-industrial complex,” and the like. Meanwhile, Big Labor, Big Trial Lawyers, and — of course — Big Government are left-wing angels.

"And why is that? Why, to be specific, does the Left fear big corporations but not big government?

"The answer is dogma — a belief system that transcends reason. No rational person can deny that big governments have caused almost all the great evils of the last century, arguably the bloodiest in history. Who killed the 20 to 30 million Soviet citizens in the Gulag Archipelago — big government or big business? Hint: There were no private businesses in the Soviet Union. Who deliberately caused 75 million Chinese to starve to death — big government or big business? Hint: See previous hint. Did Coca-Cola kill 5 million Ukrainians? Did Big Oil slaughter a quarter of the Cambodian population? Would there have been a Holocaust without the huge Nazi state?

"Whatever bad things big corporations have done is dwarfed by the monstrous crimes — the mass enslavement of people, the deprivation of the most basic human rights, not to mention the mass murder and torture and genocide — committed by big governments."

As Patriotic Moms, we need to teach our children constitutional principles that limit the size and scope of government to its proper functions.

The Transformation of America

5/24/2012

As a U.S. special services officer, General Jerry Boykin was trained to recognize what Marxist insurgencies do.  They have a specific pattern of operation when they take over a country.

In the following video, General Boykin describes how President Obama is doing these very things in America today:

1. Nationalize (give government control over) major sectors of the economy.  This happened in the bailouts.  Obamacare will nationalize the healthcare industry.

2. Redistribute wealth.  In addition to proposed tax increases on the wealthy, Obamacare is a massive redistribution of wealth.

3. Discredit their opposition.  Rather than protect citizens from the very real dangers we face, Homeland Security has targeted “right-wing” Christians, pro-life groups, second amendment groups, and returning veterans as threats to our security.

4. Censor and suppress those they disagree with.

5. Control gun ownership. Take away the right to bear arms. Obama has said he will sign the United Nations small arms treaty that allows international bureaucrats to control if we can have guns.

6. Develop a force that can control the population.  The Healthcare legislation establishes a Ready Reserve Corps, which is a civilian military force.

These are just a few examples.  During the Obama administration, thousands of pages of bills were ramrodded through Congress without time for adequate review.

These bills contain many dangerous unconstitutional provisions that will destroy our freedom.

What can we do?
  • LIKE this post to spread the word.
  • Use the constitutional tools that protect our rights and liberty.
  • Tell our elected leaders how we feel.
  • Find candidates who represent our values and views.

Chief Justice Roberts Threatened on Obamacare

Jay Sekulow appeared on Fox News speaking about Senator Leahy's threat directed at Chief Justice Roberts.

The Senator demanded that Chief Justice Roberts vote to uphold ObamaCare or tarnish his record. This is considered a warning shot to the Justices deciding the Healthcare law.

Ignoring the Constitution, President Obama and his allies in Congress have stepped outside precedent, sending threatening signals to the Judiciary.

Please LIKE if you believe it's time for the president and his supporters to honor their oath to uphold the Constitution of the United States!

Making the Moral Case for Free Enterprise

How to Win the Fight for Free Enterprise
Speech by Arthur Brooks, at the Heritage Foundation

Picture

"Entrepreneurship, personal responsibility, and upward mobility: these traditions are at the heart of the free enterprise system, and have long been central to America’s exceptional culture. In recent years, however, policymakers have dramatically weakened these traditions – by exploding the size of government, propping up their corporate cronies, and trying to reorient our system from rewarding merit to redistributing wealth.

"In The Road to Freedom, Arthur Brooks shows that this trend cannot be reversed through materialistic appeals about the economic efficiency of capitalism. Rather, free enterprise requires a moral defense rooted in the ideals of earned success, equality of opportunity, charity, and basic fairness. He builds this defense and demonstrates how it is central to understanding the major policy issues facing America today.

"The future of the free enterprise system has become a central issue in our national debate, and Brooks offers a practical manual for defending it. Both a moral manifesto and a prescription for concrete policy changes, The Road to Freedom will help Americans in all walks of life translate the philosophy of free enterprise into action, to restore both our nation’s greatness and our own well-being in the process."  (The Heritage Foundation)

This is a great speech about how to make the case for free enterprise.

This message has never been more important!

"Our Father"

Picture
From National Review:  Sunday morning at the Hanoi Hilton was church time. To gather our “congregation,” the Senior Ranking Officer (SRO) tapped “cc,” quietly on his wall. Each cell in turn tapped “cc,” and soon all have been alerted to Church Call. The service was a prayer and a reciting of Bible verses. If I was lucky, I was in a cell with one or two other POWs, and we could pool our knowledge of the Bible.

A failed rescue attempt led to the most memorable of our church experiences. It happened on November 20, 1970, when U.S. Special Forces staged a mission to rescue the POWs believed to be at Son Tay, one of the small prisons the North Vietnamese maintained outside Hanoi. The raid was brilliantly planned and executed perfectly. Our men landed at the prison in helicopters and came home without the loss of a single American. There was only one problem: All the POWs had been moved out of Son Tay about four months before the rescue effort so none of us went back with our rescuers. The mission still turned out to be a huge success for us, however.

Realizing that such rescue attempts could happen again, the North Vietnamese brought us in from outlying prison camps into the main Hoa Lo prison in Hanoi: the Hanoi Hilton. Within hours of the raid, we were moved into large cells — 43 of us in my cell. It was the greatest day of our prison life. For the first time, we were meeting POWs whose names we had memorized years earlier. Many of us had formed intense friendships through the tap code with men we’d never seen. As we met that night, “So this is what you look like” was heard over and over throughout the cell.
