
Senator John McCain's campaign team reviewed 23 years of Mitt Romney's tax returns as part of the 2008 vice presidential vetting process.
Responding to Harry Reid's recent unsubstantiated accusation that Mitt didn't pay taxes, Senator McCain said that he is absolutely confident that Mitt did indeed pay taxes. Nothing in his tax returns indicated that he did not pay taxes.
Mitt has said that his tax returns consist of hundreds of pages of personal information that Democratic operatives comb through looking for anything they can distort, take out of context, or just plain lie about. He doesn't want to give them any more than is required.
