Americans believe in defending our freedom.  We support and sympathize with courageous people in other countries who rise up, often in extreme danger, to claim their freedom.

That's why the current events in Egypt are deeply troubling.  Egyptians are rising up to defend their freedom.  Hundreds of thousands of them are protesting Moammed Morsi’s dictatorial regime.

They are in grave danger.  Reports tell of Egypt's ruling party "paying gangs of thugs to sexually assault women" who participate in the protests.  And the Muslim Brotherhood is "paying gangs to beat up men" who speak out.

But that's just the beginning of this grisly nightmare.  An Egyptian newspaper reports that Mohammed Morsi's government is torturing those who dare to dissent.

Why hasn't our President expressed outrage over the atrocities being committed?  He was deeply disturbed at waterboarding that was done to protect American lives, but he's turned a blind eye to these vile acts.

And why is Barack Obama sending 1.3 BILLION dollars of tanks and weapons to this evil regime?

Please pray, and do whatever you can, for our liberty-loving friends in Egypt.

Former Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice, was greeted by an enthusiastic crowd, and cries of  "We love you, Condi!"  at the Republican National Convention last week.

Condi's speech was an effective blend of foreign policy expertise with compassionate conservatism.

Rumored to have been one of the top contenders for the VP slot, she will continue to be a powerful force in the party, in or outside of a Romney Administration.

I particularly appreciate the introduction from my good friend and tireless campaign companion, Gov. Bob McDonnell. He is showing what conservative leadership can do to build a stronger economy.

Thank you also Congressman Goodlatte for joining us today. And particular thanks to Gen. Peay.

I appreciate your invitation to be with you today at the Virginia Military Institute.

It is a great privilege to be here at an Institution that has done so much for our nation, both in war and in peace.

For more than 170 years, VMI has done more than educate students. It has guided their transformation into citizens, and warriors, and leaders. VMI graduates have served with honor in our nation’s defense, just as many are doing today in Afghanistan and other lands. Since the September 11th attacks, many of VMI’s sons and daughters have defended America, and I mourn with you the 15 brave souls who have been lost. I join you in praying for the many VMI graduates and all Americans who are now serving in harm’s way. May God bless all who serve, and all who have served.

Of all the VMI graduates, none is more distinguished than George Marshall—the Chief of Staff of the Army who became Secretary of State and Secretary of Defense, who helped to vanquish fascism and then planned Europe’s rescue from despair. His commitment to peace was born of his direct knowledge of the awful costs and consequences of war.

General Marshall once said, “The only way human beings can win a war is to prevent it.” Those words were true in his time—and they still echo in ours.

Former United Nations Ambassador John Bolton spoke at the 2012 NRA Celebration of American Values Leadership Forum.

In his 11 minute speech, Ambassador Bolton advocated a Ronald Reagan approach to foreign policy and listed some key elements that made President Reagan's foreign policy successful:
  • Be proud to be an American.
  • Preserve American sovereignty.  Protect our Constitution and constitutional freedoms.
  • Oppose international treaties and agreements that weaken or supersede the Constitution.
  • Seek peace through strength.  Keep our economy strong.  Invest in our national defense.
  • Trust in the American people, not our enemies.  Respect our allies.
